Update Mika's Prosthetc Foot.

Option for Mika's prosthetic foot from OrthoPets

I've talked with OrthoPets about Mika's Prosthetic Foot! We have decided to try something comfortable that they make for indoor animals before going all out with a full foot prosthetic. It is called a "House Slipper" and is created the same way that they would do a prosthetic, as in I still get a fiberglass cast of Mika's foot made. The House Slipper is custom created, padded with diabetic foam and molded to his exact measurements. The bottom of the House Slipper has a rubbery material that should grip on our hard floors and the padded that will be inside will allow his to walk on his leg like he does on the carpet, instead of sliding it on the hard floor like a ski. Here's some photos of a House Slipped similar to what they will make for Mika. His won't be as long as this one though. I've also included a close up of his back legs so you can see what we are dealing with. I'm so excited! I think this is a great option for Mika! I have to meet with my vet this week about getting the cast of Mika's foot made and have some forms to get signed by the vet and for me to fill out too. The ball is rolling!! I'll keep you all posted!

  2. Sounds like a great idea. So terrific what can be done today to help furbabies. Bet Mika will be delighted with his slipper once he gets used to it. Thanks for sharing the good news.
And good luck to Ani in the contest!
