New Video! Anakin & George Playing Footsie!
Anakin & George seem to be hitting it off really well :) Here's a cute video of the two of them playing "footsie" through the baby gate. Watching this I hear the song, "Getting to know you, getting to know all about you" playing in my head. George also jumps over on Ani's side to visit him now too (supervised of course). George is a two year old stray cat we took in about a year ago. He is a very sweet cat & so handsome with his black fur & big green eyes.
Meet Anakin! Ani is a two legged cat, born without a pelvis or back legs but that doesn't stop him. He is full of love & life! My family and I rescued Anakin and I am caring for him. My family and I are lifelong animal lovers and will give Ani the absolute best possible home, love and care. I post updates, photos and videos of Anakin on his website, Facebook page, Twitter, YouTube and other online sites.

Videos! Anakin Our Kitten without Back Legs, Playtime for Anakin Our Two Legged Cat
I'm going to be posting all of my videos over here during the next few days. Please feel free to share these videos. So here we go, starting with the very first video of Anakin. This video was taken when he had only been at out house for a few hours. Ani was still very unsure of his surroundings.
Here's the YouTube Description and Original Story I wrote about Anakin....

We have a new kitten! A very special new kitten. I wasn't looking to get another cat right now but you know how these things just happen.... About two weeks ago a kitten without back legs started coming over to eat with the other feral cats at my dad's work. My first few trips to attempt to catch it didn't work out. Then Thursday (5/31/12), We went to see if this was the day we could catch it. The kitten was cowering in the bushes and I climbed into the bushes and pulled the kitten out. We brought the kitten home and I set it up in our hall bathroom, exactly like I did with Trixie & Pixie two years earlier. Friday morning (6/1/12) I took him to our vet as soon as they opened. Our vet said she has never seen anything like him before and he is amazing and that it's also amazing that his mother took care of him even with his handicap. She examined him and he is a little boy, approximately 6 to 8 weeks old and it in really good health. Two xrays on him showed he was born with no pelvis or back legs. We let him walk around the room for a minute to see how he moves. He positions his front legs at an angle towards the middle of his body and balances his backend in the air with the use of his tail touching the ground if he needs it. He gets around really well that way and is pretty quick too. The xray also showed that his insides were not malformed, last was the feline leukemia test. He's came back negative. So we got him vaccinated, dewormed and a little flea meds and unless we have any problems with him, he goes back to the vet in three weeks :) Now, he is home getting comfy in his little bathroom and will be there for a while till he is bigger, stronger and ready to be socialized with the other cats and our dog. He is such a sweet calm little guy :) He is happy to cuddle in our laps and purrs really loud. He likes to play with a little toy mouse and also chase a beaded necklaces around on the floor. We have decided to name him Anakin and will be calling him "Ani" (yes after Anakin Skywalker :D )
Here's a new video showing how well Anakin is settling into our home. He sure can zoom around the bathroom when he wants to :) The original video of Ani walking was take after he had only been here a few hours. He was still a little unsure of his surroundings and us too. This video better shows how happy he is playing and definitely on the move!

A note from Anakin's Grandmother (my mom)
Hey everybody! This is Anakin's grandmother here. I wanted to tell you all about my little visit with Ani today. I forgot my camera, or I would be posting a few pixs for you guys. Ani still isn't sure about me yet since I don't live at his house or see him everyday. I'm still a stranger to him. But even though he is a little leary of me, he still loves to be petted and played with. I tried to hold him quietly, but after a few minutes he wanted down to play, just like a toddler. Trixie came over to investigate and I was so proud of her because she didn't hisss at Ani, but just watched him with a twinkle in her eye. I think she is deciding to make friends with her new brother. Later, George came around and Ani got so excited to see him. I carried Ani over to George, squirimming in my hands wanting to get down. When Ani was down on the floor next to George (I wish I had my camera with me!) George wanted to lick and clean Ani, but Ani wanted to rough house and play. It was soooooo cute! I hope Carrie can get that on video soon. As for Ani's health, he is doing well, eating good and very active. I think he is a little small for his age, but Carrie says no. The vet will tell us later in July when Ani goes back for more kitty shots. Thank you all for your continued support and care about Ani. We enjoy reading your post and look forward to sharing more updates soon. Hugs and kisses to all of Ani's friends.
