Happy (belated) Birthday to my Mom (Ani & Mika's Grandma). Her birthday was this Monday, June 3rd. Here she is holding Mika the day after we brought him home :) I am so sorry for my lack of updates things are still super busy around here. Everything should slow down and be back to normal after this week. Anakin, Mika and all the other kitties are all doing great though :) I'll have new pixs & videos to share soon!

Anakin sitting purrrty! Thank you so much for all of the Birthday wishes for my daughter Angel and Anniversary wishes for my hubby & I :) We've got a few more celebrations going on around here too! Friday is the one year anniversary of the day I caught Anakin & brought him home :) Our son Ian is graduating from High School next week and Monday June 3 is Ani's Grandma's Birthday! :) Still Busy busy around here!! Hopefully things will calm down after this next week ;)

Anakin's Grandma here with, The story of Anakin's Feral Family

This is Ani's Grandmother here and I wanted to tell you a story. We all know that Ani came from a feral community at my husband's work and Carrie was able to go there and catch Ani and bring him home with her. But now I want to tell you......THE REST OF THE STORY! When Ani came to live with Carrie, that left Ani's mother, two siblings and four other cats in the colony that my husband continued to feed every day. But my husband would be retiring soon and nobody at his work would step up to take care of them. They even threaten to have them picked up and one man said he would shoot them. As you can imagine, we were all very upset by this and looked to local trap and release agencies for help. The wonderful folks at Jury Duty http://www.jury-duty.org/ stepped up and not only provided information and traps, but two lovely ladies spent a Sunday afternoon helping my husband catch four of the kitties. (see video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOZe6BmECSY My husband was able to catch the remaining cats during the rest of that week. (On a sad note, Ani's mom was able to escape the cage while at our house and ran away somewhere in our neighborhood. We are hopeful that we might see her again and she will become a member of our fur family of five cats.) A trip to the vet and all were spayed, neutered and vaccinated. My husband's co-worker had asked his 70 year old mom if she would take the seven cats to live with her other feral cats on her 10 areas, about two hours drive from Pensacola. You can see in the pixs that Ani's "family" is now living in a wonderful wooded paradise with a sweet woman that feeds and looks after them. Ani's two male siblings are living in her house and the others were acclimated to their new surroundings and released. But for all of Ani's friends that have noticed a resemblance between Trixie and Ani, there is more to THE REST OF THE STORY! Carrie adopted Trixie and Pixie from my husband's work about two years ago. They were living in a dumpster with three other siblings. Carrie took Trixie and Pixie and the same wonderful old lady took the others. So you see, Trixie, Pixie and Ani just MIGHT be related!! AND NOW YOU KNOW.......THE REST OF THE STORY :)

This is Ani's Grandmother here...

... and I just wanted to say that I saw Ani yesterday (Friday, August 31st) and he is not that big! Everyone keeps posting how big he is, but he is still a very small kitten. He is 3 lbs 1 oz and compared to his siblings, very tiny. Yes, he has grown since we all first met Ani, and that is a very good thing. But he is not anywhere near being a full grown male cat

. Ani sat between me and Carrie on the couch with Ani playing on the paint and fishing game and I kept telling Carrie, he is still so small. He has a tiny little head with those gorgeous tufted ears, longish front legs and a longer body and fantastic long fluffy tail. But Ani is still very small. I think the pixs of him are misleading. And on a side note......Ani does not shed!!!! You can hold him with a black shirt on and there will be no Ani hair on it. I love that!!!

Anakin's had a little setback

Hi everybody! Anakin's Grandmother here to give you some news. Little Ani is back in the cone of courage, at least for the weekend. I know, that stinks! Some of you might know that Carrie hasn't been feeling we

ll, suffering from a cold and cough and not sleeping good at night. She asked me to update you guys about Ani. So bear with me, I don't have all of the medical jargon and specifics, but I'll give you a summary of what happened this afternoon. Long story short.........the parasites are back and Ani had the same poop problems as before and the rectal thingy came back out. I think it isn't as bad as it was last time and they hope with rest and medication over the weekend, it will "suck" back inside. Carrie told me that it already is looking smaller and the swelling is going down. The vet did an enema to clean Ani out and that's how they found more eggs from that horrible parasite. From some of your comments last time, it seems to be a very hard parasite to get rid of and can take several treatments. Carrie said to tell you she hopes to get a good nights rest and feel better tomorrow. Carrie is exhausted and Ani is high as a kite on pain meds!! Thank you for caring about Ani and Carrie and I'm sure she will post updates tomorrow.

Ani's friends are so wonderful!  I can't thank you enough for all of your love and support. Lookie what Anakin, Trixie, Pixie, Zoe & George got from their Grandma & Grandpa! Wow! Is that an awesome Kitty Condo or what! Thank you Grandma & Grandpa! It just arrived today & before it was even out of the box Ani was investigating it all. He has already found his way up the ramp to the second box & can easily climb up & down the whole condo. I added the small chair on the side to help him get down that side easier. I managed to get 4 of the 5 cats in the first pix. Zoe doesn't seem to interested in the condo yet. Anakin is sleeping on the second level right now :)

A note from Anakin's Grandmother...

This is Ani's Grandmother and I wanted to share with you a post I came across just now. What Louise and her family have done by adopting a special needs kitty from their local shelter is exactly what Anakin represents. Ani is a cute kitty with special needs that was found by my daughter, who is the best kitty lover ever! But Carrie and I hoped that by sharing Ani's story with the world, his message would be to embrace the special fur babies and show them love and kindness by adopting the "less then perfect" animal. That they can be the most wonderful of pets. And it is amazing that Louise has done this. And I have read 100's of post from others that have "less then perfect" animals in their lives and are also Angels of the fur babies. Bless you all! And here is Louise's story.............

Louise Summers-Worrall..... Inspired by Anakin and your family, I have contacted my local Cat Protection and am giving a kitty a forever home. Her name is India. She is just 11 months old, and due to a difficult birth had to have a leg removed. My husband, my six cats and six guinea pigs and me, are looking forward to welcoming her to her new home very soon

A note from Anakin's Grandmother (my mom)

Anakin's Grandmother here! I went to pick up my granddaughter for her gymnastics class and I went early so I would have time to visit with Ani. I forgot my camera AGAIN! I know, threes the charm, so next time I have to remember! Ani was in go-to-town play mode and wouldn't stop for nothing. He is feeling so much better since he has been pooping out those awful worms. Nasty things! Poor little guy. And I did get to see for myself how he uses the litter box. He had one leg forward a little and the other one a little to the back and he lifts the backend up and goes. Just like all the other kitties out there. He even grunts a little. I know, too much information! Or not, for some of you that are interested in these things. I watched Ani play and I could tell he had grown more then I thought when he would sit under the chair. I remember in an early video of him in the hallway and he was under the chair the rail was over his head. Now his head is over the rail. His front legs are getting very long and he is still walking around just fine. If we can just rid his cute little body of those pesty worms, the little man will be on his way to a healthy life!

Hey everybody! This is Anakin's grandmother here. I wanted to tell you all about my little visit with Ani today. I forgot my camera, or I would be posting a few pixs for you guys. Ani still isn't sure about me yet since I don't live at his house or see him everyday. I'm still a stranger to him. But even though he is a little leary of me, he still loves to be petted and played with. I tried to hold him quietly, but after a few minutes he wanted down to play, just like a toddler. Trixie came over to investigate and I was so proud of her because she didn't hisss at Ani, but just watched him with a twinkle in her eye. I think she is deciding to make friends with her new brother. Later, George came around and Ani got so excited to see him. I carried Ani over to George, squirimming in my hands wanting to get down. When Ani was down on the floor next to George (I wish I had my camera with me!) George wanted to lick and clean Ani, but Ani wanted to rough house and play. It was soooooo cute! I hope Carrie can get that on video soon. As for Ani's health, he is doing well, eating good and very active. I think he is a little small for his age, but Carrie says no. The vet will tell us later in July when Ani goes back for more kitty shots. Thank you all for your continued support and care about Ani.
