💙 Rest in Peace Kazu 8/14/2020 - 8/15/2024 💙

💔 I am heartbroken to share the Kazu passed away this afternoon while being cuddled and comforted by my daughter and I. 💙 Rest in Peace Kazu 8/14/2020 - 8/15/2024 💙 We had the Vets do everything they could to try and save him but this afternoon they said Kazu was much worse so we rushed to visit him. He was so sick and weak and we didn’t want him to suffer anymore. He was still aware of everything and happy to see us was purring for us when we first held him. We brought him his stuffed kitty, cuddled with him and told him how much we love him, what a good sweet baby boy he is and how sorry we are that we couldn’t get him better and how much he means to us and how much we will miss him. He had more serious issues going on than the diabetic ketoacidosis and infection and there was nothing else they could do. Kazu just turned 4 years old yesterday and will always be our sweet baby boy. We miss him so much already. He joins his brother Forrest at the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 Love you Forever Kazu! Our home will never be the same without you. We are completely heartbroken 💔

No Kazu Update yet. When I say Kazu is a sweet baby boy. I mean it & this video from March 2024 shows why. This stuffed kitty quickly became Kazu’s when we rescued him and his brother’s when they were kittens. Since then he has nursed on this stuffed kitty like this almost everyday. He finds doing this very comforting.  One of his brothers have this behavior only Kazu. I have not heard from the doctor yet today about how Kazu is doing. I called a few hours ago and they said they are waiting on labwork and will then call me. The waiting is so awful! I want to think that if he was getting worse they would have called us to come up there like he said on the phone yesterday afternoon. I will let you know when we hear something. Thank you again for all the well wishes for Kazu. I’m sorry I have not been able to reply to many. I have been a sick wreck with stress and worry and not eating or sleeping very well.

Kazu is not doing well

Kazu update, he is not doing well at all today. He is lethargic now and in serious condition.His GI track is not moving the food they tried to put in through the nasil tube and there is fluid. They are taking the food and fluid out. They did an ultrasound to look for other issues. He does have an inflamed lymph node. His bile duct is also dilated, but not obstructed. They are starting him on some other meds to try and wake up his G.I. track and get it working. He is on CRI insulin. His bg was 366 at last check. They are upping his Glargine to 3 units. He talked about the possibility of tumors or early cancer as a possibility for why he’s not getting better he said that with DKA he should’ve started to turn around by now, but instead he’s having more issues. They are waiting on some more lab works and different test. He said they’ve got a few more things they want to try with him and see if they can turn him around. They said I probably won’t hear from anyone tonight unless he gets worse. I can’t believe this is happening again just like his brother Forrest. I hope he can pull through this and be ok. He is so young to be this sick. He’s only 4 years old. I can’t stop crying

Kazu, Romeo & Quincy!! 🎂🎉🎁😺🐾❤️ Wishing the most wonderful birthday ever to my sweet baby boys & many more! & to their feral mom Mama Moo Moo that I still feed and take care of . Kazu is spending his birthday still hospitalized at the Emergency Vet for an infection and Diabetic Ketoacidosis. I do not have a morning update yet. They are waiting on some lab work. I will make an update after I hear from them. I will also let them know it’s his birthday today since I can’t see him So they can give him extra cuddles. 💚 Also thinking of Forrest at the Rainbow Bridge today on what would have been his 4th Birthday too 🌈We all love you boys so much! Kazu Hospital Update 💙

Kazu Update 💙 I just spoke with the vet at the Emergency Hospital and overall she thinks Kazu is doing a little bit better. He is alert and not lethargic at all. He has not been hiding as much as he was where they are keeping him and is actually wanting to sit at the front so he can see what is going on around him. They were not able to get him to eat on his own yet so they did give him the nasal G.I. feeding tube a few hours ago and have started introducing a little food to his stomach. His latest bloodwork still show his electrolytes and potassium and everything else are still in a good range. She said his liver enzymes were slightly elevated, but only by four points so she is not concerned about that. His blood glucose level has been staying around 300 but they were giving him a decreased insulin dose since he was not eating. They are going to increase his dose since he now is being fed the tube. They are waiting on his urine to check his ketones again. I was not able to visit Kazu this afternoon because they had too many critically ill patients right now. After talking to the vet, I think it is good that I did not go visit him. She said he is just getting acclimated to being a hospital patient and, seeing us and then us leaving again might set him back and make him more depressed and upset. She said she has seen it happen with other patients and Kazu does seem to have that kind of temperament. I understand what she means and I agree with her. I want to thank you for your well wishes, prayers, website orders, donations and good thoughts for Kazu. Kazu is at the Emergency Vet Hospital

Kazu is staying at the Emergency Vet. He is being treated for an infection and Diabetic Keto Acidosis DKA. The treatment plan I paid for besides last night goes through the next 48 hours. So far he is not wanting to eat anything so they may be placing the nasal G.I. tube later today. I am able to go visit him this afternoon sometime, they haven’t let me know when yet, and I will hopefully able to bring his favorite foods and try and get him to eat. I hope he can pull through this and get well and be OK. He’s only four years old and the sweetest baby boy. I just lost his brother Forrest to DKA two years ago but I didn’t even know he had diabetes and now I can’t believe this is happening again. Kazu’s vet bills are already in the thousands of dollars.
