New Photo & Anakin Update

Thank you for all the well wishes for myself & Anakin :) We are both doing a bit better today. Ani 's prolapse has gone back inside again & the swelling is going down. He started back on the parasite meds yesterday. I have read that it can take a few treatments to get this Giardia all gone. I did disinfect the entire bathroom where he sleeps, his litter boxes, all his bedding & soft toys and he also has a brand new cone. Right now he's hanging out in my son's room on the boogie mat playing with a few of his toys & relaxing :)

Anakin's had a little setback

Hi everybody! Anakin's Grandmother here to give you some news. Little Ani is back in the cone of courage, at least for the weekend. I know, that stinks! Some of you might know that Carrie hasn't been feeling we

ll, suffering from a cold and cough and not sleeping good at night. She asked me to update you guys about Ani. So bear with me, I don't have all of the medical jargon and specifics, but I'll give you a summary of what happened this afternoon. Long story short.........the parasites are back and Ani had the same poop problems as before and the rectal thingy came back out. I think it isn't as bad as it was last time and they hope with rest and medication over the weekend, it will "suck" back inside. Carrie told me that it already is looking smaller and the swelling is going down. The vet did an enema to clean Ani out and that's how they found more eggs from that horrible parasite. From some of your comments last time, it seems to be a very hard parasite to get rid of and can take several treatments. Carrie said to tell you she hopes to get a good nights rest and feel better tomorrow. Carrie is exhausted and Ani is high as a kite on pain meds!! Thank you for caring about Ani and Carrie and I'm sure she will post updates tomorrow.

New Photo ~ Anakin got his cone off! :)

WooHoo! Anakin's cone is off! :) I took Ani to the vet this morning and she thought his lil bum looked great & that there is no swelling at all. She talked with the other vet there and they both agreed that Anakin's stitches should stay in place. They aren't bothering him and the longer they are in the more time he has to completely heal up. The stitches his has are dissolving stitches like they use for spay surgeries and will dissolve and fall out on their own in another week or so. He is to stay on the same A/D critical care canned food, probiotics, lactulose & catlax right now and we are going to slowly switch him over to another high quality low bulk canned food and continue with the lactulose & cat lax. She did think it would be fine to take the cone off so I took it off when we got back home. Here's lil man checking out his cone. Of course he had to smell it! Then he proceeded to climb up the cat condo and take a full body bath! He's been wanting to bathe himself so bad! He's a happy clean lil boy now :) Thank you so much for all of your well wishes & support. You guys are amazing!!

New Photo ~ Anakin's Cone Last Day?

Hopefully this is the last pix of Anakin wearing the cone! Here's Ani sitting in his favorite chair today. You can even see his little sock foot from where they shaved his fur for the IV. Nothing fancy but I really like this pix. He looks so bright eyed & happy :)

New Video! Anakin Making Biscuits After Surgery.

Anakin had minor surgery on 8/11/12 & 8/15/12 to fix a prolapsed rectum that was caused by the parasite Giardia. Here's a video of him kneading "Making Happy Feet", "Making Biscuits" on the bed while wearing the dreaded cone. He was so happy to be home from the Emergency Vet Hospital and feeling better after the surgery. Anakin is expected to make a full recovery. Anakin Update!

So I called the vet this morning since Ani is doing so great & asked if I needed to bring him in or not? There really wasn't anything they were going to do today other than look at him & ask me how he's doing. I told her he looks awesome & he is doing great with everything. His little bum looks back to normal too. So she said as long as he keeps doing great like this not to bring him back till Wednesday morning. Then they will check everything and see if we are ready to take his stitches out and get rid of that cone too! :) I'll keep you updated & I'll be posting a new video today too :) So keep an eye out for the video!

New Photo ~ Anakin in the Hidey-Hole

Anakin had a relaxing weekend of getting better & healing :) (He's doing great!) Here's Lil Ani hanging out in the Hidey-Hole of the Cat Condo. Yes he can get in & out of there even with the cone ;) He found a carpet string hanging inside (That's what he's looking at) So I had to cut that off, so he didn't chew it off & eat it.
